Introduction
Nearly Wise Games ("we", "us", or "our") is an independent game studio based in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit nearlywisegames.com (the "Website"), including the Royal Tactics pages, and how we use it.
This policy covers the Website only. For information about the Royal Tactics game itself, see the Royal Tactics Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
When you contact us
If you send us a message through the contact form, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number, if you choose to provide it
- The contents of your message
Launch update sign-ups
Before Royal Tactics launched, visitors could sign up with their email address to hear when the game became available. We no longer accept new sign-ups. If you signed up, we have your email address.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, when you load a page our hosting provider automatically receives basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, the page you requested, and the time of the request. We use this to keep the Website secure and working, and to see overall traffic statistics. These statistics come from our hosting provider's server logs, not from cookies or tracking scripts.
Cookies
We do not use cookies, advertising, or third-party tracking on the Website. The only cookie we set is on the sign-in pages our staff use to manage the Website, where a strictly necessary cookie keeps staff signed in. Visitors never see those pages.
How We Use Your Information
- To read and reply to messages you send us
- To email people who signed up for launch updates about Royal Tactics and related offers, such as pre-registration rewards
- To operate and secure the Website and understand overall traffic
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Service Providers
We use a small number of service providers to run the Website. They handle information on our behalf:
- Netlify hosts the Website, receives contact form submissions, and provides our traffic statistics.
- Resend delivers contact form messages and our emails.
- Google Fonts serves the fonts the Website uses. When your browser loads them, Google receives technical information such as your IP address, under Google's Privacy Policy.
These providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Links to the App Store and Google Play take you to sites run by Apple and Google, where their own privacy policies apply.
Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for: contact messages for as long as needed to handle your inquiry, and launch update sign-ups until you ask to be removed. Technical information in server logs is kept by our hosting provider for a limited period.
Your Rights
You can ask to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop receiving emails from us, by contacting privacy@nearlywisegames.com. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
The Website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, and the Website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
